15 Life Lessons I’d Tell My Younger, Stuck, Struggling Entrepreneur Self

If I could sit down with my younger self—the one who was stuck, frustrated, and unsure if the hard work would ever pay off—there are a few things I’d want him to know.

Hindsight is a powerful thing, but the reality is, every lesson I’ve learned has shaped who I am today.

Entrepreneurship is never a straight road.

There are highs, lows, and moments where you question everything.

But if I could pass on anything to someone at the start of their journey, these would be the 15 life lessons I wish I had known sooner.

1. Fall in love with the hard work. It pays off.

There’s no shortcut. No secret formula. Just hard work, consistency, and resilience. The sooner you learn to embrace the process, the sooner you’ll see results.

2. Your business won’t work unless you do.

It doesn’t matter how good your ideas are—if you don’t put in the effort to make them happen, they won’t. Success is built in the daily grind, not in the “big moments.”

3. The more you that you show, the more your business will grow.

People connect with authenticity. The more you bring your personality, your values, and your real self into your business, the stronger your brand will become.

4. Act on your inspiration sooner. Much sooner.

How many great ideas have been lost to hesitation? When something excites you—go for it. Overthinking kills momentum.

5. Don’t worry about getting ‘there’; the journey is the reward.

There is no final destination where everything is perfect, and you feel “done.” The journey itself is where growth, learning, and success happen. Enjoy it.

6. Find a mentor sooner than later.

You don’t have to figure everything out alone. A mentor will help you avoid mistakes, give you perspective, and push you further than you’d go on your own.

7. Focus on your mission, over money.

Money follows value. If you’re chasing cash, you’ll lose sight of what really matters. Build something meaningful, and the financial rewards will come.

8. You can’t be envious and grow your business at the same time.

Comparing yourself to others is wasted energy. Focus on your own path, your own growth, and your own definition of success.

9. Prioritise self-care; it’s connected to your abundance.

Burnout doesn’t lead to success. Taking care of yourself—physically, mentally, emotionally—will fuel everything else in your business.

10. You are always exactly where you are supposed to be.

Even when it doesn’t feel like it. Every struggle, every setback, every win—it’s all part of the process. Trust it.

11. You’ll get that opportunity when the time is right.

Sometimes things don’t happen because you’re not ready for them yet. Keep showing up, keep improving, and the right opportunities will come when you’re in the best position to take them.

12. Don’t take things personally; it’s not about you.

Rejection, criticism, doubt—none of it defines you. The quicker you learn to separate emotion from business, the stronger you’ll become.

13. You have to believe it before you see it.

Success starts in your mindset. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will either.

14. What you focus on grows.

If you dwell on problems, they expand. If you focus on solutions and opportunities, they multiply. Energy flows where attention goes—so choose wisely.

15. Take action before you are ready.

Confidence doesn’t come first—action does. The more you show up, the more capable you’ll feel. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start—just start.

Looking back, every challenge, mistake, and tough moment led me to where I am today.

If you’re in that early stage of your journey—stuck, struggling, wondering if it’s all worth it—keep going.

Learn from those who’ve been there, trust yourself, and remember: the only way to fail is to quit.
