2019 is unexpectedly turning into ‘the year of books’ for me. We all know who Bear Grylls and I think we usually know what to expect from one of his books and even more so one of his many television shows. I was however surprised by just how good this book is.
Sometimes this man almost seems too good to be true. What an earth are his vices?
The love and emotion towards his wife and family was really something, I mean, it’s not exactly unexpected but you really could feel it in this book – it’s superbly written. I’ll save such emotion towards my own family for another day…I’m not sure I could do it justice in one short article.
On that note, yes he may be a very successful adventurer but what really stood out for me when reading this book was ‘Bear the man’ before ‘Bear the TV star.’ Something that isn’t always easily put across in today’s celebrity culture.
This book teaches one very simple lesson; never give up. It’s a cliche I know, but isn’t a good one? It’s true though, when I started my business working out of a coffee shop, it would’ve been so easy to give up, to go back to recruitment and the safe, stability of a 9-5. Had I given up, it would’ve been the biggest mistake I’d ever made and that’s why I believe in books like this one.
So much to learn, so much inspiration, you WILL love this book.
